Nowadays, it is impossible to imagine buying, selling or renting a property without an energy performance certificate. According to the current legal situation, the following four characteristic values are classified on a scale from A++ to G on the cover sheet of an energy performance certificate. A++ is the best value that can be achieved and G the worst.

In Austria, sole proprietorships, partnerships and corporations that are required to keep accounts are subject to the provisions of the Austrian Commercial Code (UGB). The rules for the valuation of current and non-current assets therefore apply to the accounting of real estate.
